The members of the Maisons du Monde Foundation’s Expert Committee met on 24 March 2026 to renew four partnerships that were coming to an end. Find out more about the selected projects!

Of the four projects renewed by the committee of experts, two contribute to the preservation of forests in the Amazon, which are most at risk, and two contribute to the protection of trees and hedgerows in the French countryside. These renewals are part of our strategy to support community-led projects over the long term.

Renewed partnerships for the preservation of forests worldwide :

Envol Vert / Preserving the Amazon rainforest in Peru and its biodiversity

The project (supported since 2021): over the past ten years, 2 million hectares of the Amazon have been lost due to agricultural expansion and human pressure, particularly in Peru with coffee and coca cultivation, exacerbated by climate change, which is driving farmers to seek new land. Against this backdrop, the association is working to develop agroforestry systems to restore soils and rebalance ecosystems.

Duration of the new partnership: 3 years

This project will help to strengthen farmers’ knowledge of their local area through training, awareness-raising initiatives and the promotion of environmental ambassadors. It will also contribute to the conservation of 1,890 hectares of forest through monitoring, voluntary agreements and reforestation initiatives. Finally, its aim is to develop economic alternatives to deforestation by training farmers, exploring new value chains and facilitating their access to markets.

Forestever / Protection and enhancement of indigenous territories in the Colombian Amazon

The project (supported since 2017): the association works to preserve the Amazon rainforest through agroforestry and by improving the quality of life of indigenous Ticuna communities.

Duration of the new partnership: 2 years

The renewal of this project will help strengthen sustainable land management by consolidating community governance and the demarcation of the reserve. It will also support the empowerment of women through training and by strengthening their role within the communities. The project also aims to promote the development of economic alternatives to deforestation by supporting local associations and promoting their products.

The renewed partnership for the conservation of trees outside forests in France :

Fonds pour l'arbre / Increasing the planting and restoration of native trees

The project (supported since 2020): every year, 23,500 km of hedgerows disappear in France, even though they are essential for biodiversity and for soil and water quality. To address this, the endowment fund – which we helped to establish – supports the planting of hedgerows and the development of sustainable local supply chains.

Duration of the new partnership: 1 year

The renewal of this partnership will enable the roll-out of a national programme to promote hedgerows by supporting the planting of over 400 km of hedgerows and strengthening the skills of local stakeholders across many regions. The funds raised will help to consolidate collective sponsorship, ensure the long-term viability of partnerships and raise the profile of hedgerows by highlighting their importance to the general public and national stakeholders.

Des enfants et des arbres / Involving children in the conservation of trees and hedgerows

The project (supported since 2022): against a backdrop of the disappearance of hedgerows in France, the project aims to engage farmers and schoolchildren in hedgerow planting, whilst providing teachers with suitable educational resources.

Duration of the new partnership: 3 years

The renewal of this partnership will enable us to raise awareness among a greater number of children by developing and sustaining planting projects, whilst strengthening our connection with them through new educational initiatives. The funds raised will also help to consolidate our local presence by strengthening ties with farmers and local partners.
